New Atlanta and BlueDragon continue strong sales growth in Q2'09

Following up on strong sales in Q1'09, New Atlanta had a very good second quarter, April through June 2009 (Q2'09). While we weren't quite able to match the first quarter results, highlights of Q2'09 are:

New Atlanta total sales for Q2'09 were 25% higher than the same quarter last year (Q2'08)

BlueDragon sales for Q1'09 were more than 65% higher than the same quarter last year (Q2'08)

sales growth was once again primarily driven by the BlueDragon product line, both Java and .NET editions

These two quarters combined resulted in an unexpectedly strong first half of 2009, considering the overall economic environment. Some highlights:

Total sales for New Atlanta for the first half of 2009 were 45% higher than our original budget forecast at the beginning of the year; put another way, we achieved 145% of our sales forecast

In just the first half of 2009, New Atlanta has already achieved 75% of our total sales forecast for the entire year

Four of the all-time top ten BlueDragon customers--as measured in total sales--made their first BlueDragon purchases during the first half of 2009; two of these are BlueDragon.NET customers and two are running BlueDragon for Java EE

These results put us in a very strong financial position as we enter the second half of 2009. We're currently working with several major prospects and are hopeful that the first half results represent the beginning of a trend that will continue for the rest of this year and beyond.

Once again, I'd like to thank our customers who continue to demonstrate their confidence in our company and products in the most tangible way possible. We look forward to continuing to serve you with innovative, high-quality products and responsive, expert technical support for many years into the future.

New Atlanta and BlueDragon achieve strong sales growth for Q1'09

As a privately held company, New Atlanta does not regularly discuss sales figures in public. However, in spite of these overall tough economic times, we have some good news to share. New Atlanta sales for the first quarter, January through March 2009 (Q1'09), achieved strong year-over-year and quarter-over-quarter growth. Specifically:

sales for Q1'09 were 35% higher than the same quarter last year (Q1'08)

sales for Q1'09 were 70% higher than the immediately preceding quarter, October through December 2008 (Q4'08)

Q1'09 was New Atlanta's strongest sales quarter since the beginning of the global economic recession in Q4'07

sales growth was primarily driven by BlueDragon, both .NET and Java editions, but we also achieved sales growth across nearly all product lines

We're hopeful that these results for the first quarter represent the beginning of a trend that will continue throughout 2009 and beyond. We're grateful to our customers who continue to demonstrate their confidence in our company and products, and we look forward to serving you for many years into the future. Thank you.

BlueDragon visit to the UK, March 9-13, 2009

I have a trip to the UK planned for the week of March 9-13, 2009 to visit BlueDragon customers and prospects. My schedule currently includes dates in Dublin, Gloucester, and London, and is filling quickly. Drop me a note if you're interested in having me stop by your office to discuss how you can use BlueDragon.NET to:

migrate existing ColdFusion applications to ASP.NET without rewriting code

improve the performance and reliability of your ColdFusion applications

integrate ColdFusion (CFML) and ASP.NET technologies

Of course, I'm also happy to discuss the Java EE editions of BlueDragon and the advantages they offer over Adobe ColdFusion for deploying CFML applications.

New Atlanta is currently hiring technical staff for our London, UK office. Positions are available for pre-sales technical support and consulting engineers (duties of these positions may overlap). We're looking for senior CFML developers; experience with BlueDragon--especially BlueDragon.NET--is helpful but not required.

BlueDragon posts record 2006 revenue

With tax day just past, I've been given the final 2006 revenue numbers for New Atlanta by our accountants. I'm very pleased to announce that BlueDragon posted record revenue numbers in 2006, continuing its unbroken string of annual revenue growth. While record annual revenue for BlueDragon is nothing new, 2006 did mark two important milestones:

For the first time, in 2006, BlueDragon contributed more than half of New Atlanta's total revenue.

With the growth of BlueDragon and continued strong contributions from our ServletExec and JTurbo product lines, New Atlanta's total revenue for 2006 was the highest it's been since BlueDragon was introduced in 2002.
The bottom line is that New Atlanta's financial position today is as strong or stronger than it's been at any time since BlueDragon's introduction five years ago. Fueled by the recent release of BlueDragon 7.0, we look forward to once again posting records in 2007.

We'd like to thank all of our BlueDragon, ServletExec, and JTurbo customers for their ongoing confidence in our company and our products. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the 1997 founding of New Atlanta, and we look forward to continuing to serve you with high quality products and outstanding technical support for the next ten years and beyond.

BlueDragon sales continue to skyrocket in 2006

I just received the final numbers and am absolutely delighted to announce that BlueDragon revenue for the first quarter of 2006 exceeded our total revenue for all of 2005! And 2005 was no slouch, as annual revenue for that year--fueled by the introduction of BlueDragon.NET--was over eight times greater than 2004! I'm not sure we can increase sales by eight times for the second year in a row, but considering our recently announced partnership with BEA and now the great start for the first quarter, quadrupling our sales in 2006 appears to be easily within reach. It's very satisfying to have our hard work pay off in such a tangible way.

As a BlueDragon customer, New Atlanta's ongoing financial success means that you can count on our continuing investment to develop the innovative features and provide the outstanding technical support services that are the reasons you originally chose BlueDragon as your web application platform. The best is yet to come.

BlueDragon CFML Compatibility: Words from a Customer

The following email exchange just landed in my inbox. Here's what a real BlueDragon customer has to say about compatibility.

New Atlanta Sales Rep: "I also wanted to check and see how you are doing with your implementation of BlueDragon?"

BlueDragon Customer: "We've successfully switched over a back-end content management system, which was developed in-house, and is used by our journalists to update the breaking news content on our web-site. We're testing some of the code from our public facing CFML applications with BlueDragon now, and would hope to move those applications onto three new BlueDragon JX servers before November."

New Atlanta Sales Rep: "Do you need any assistance from us?"

BlueDragon Customer: "No, we've found it very straight forward to switch platforms so far.
Thanks for the offer."

BlueDragon Posts Record Sales for First Quarter 2005

As a private company, New Atlanta normally does not disclose sales information. But this is too good not to pass along: in the same quarter (Jan-Mar 2005) that ColdFusion sales were the best in four years, BlueDragon has achieved all-time record sales. This is great news for everyone in the CFML community as a clear demonstration that the CFML server market (BlueDragon and ColdFusion) is healthy and growing.

BlueDragon sales for the first quarter of 2005 increased more than three times over the immediately preceding quarter (the fourth quarter of 2004), and were more than five times greater than the first quarter of 2004. These sales were achieved almost entirely by the Java/J2EE editions of BlueDragon 6.1. With the introduction of BlueDragon 6.2 and BlueDragon.NET near the end of the first quarter, we expect BlueDragon sales to more than double again in the second quarter of 2005!

For those BlueDragon critics and others who tend to view things in win-lose terms, this is compelling evidence that in fact we're in a win-win situation for everyone: New Atlanta, Macromedia, and our respective customers. Rather than harming ColdFusion, the introduction of BlueDragon to the CFML server market in 2002 is contributing to the overall growth of that market, to everyone's benefit.

So while we at New Atlanta celebrate BlueDragon's success, we offer our congratulations to the ColdFusion team at Macromedia on their success, and look forward with everyone in the CFML community to even better days ahead.
